Depending on your version, the box may include: Viaro or Itero Smart Glasses, a matching Smart Case, registration keys, a user manual, a USB-C charging cable (some versions), and an external USB charger (some versions). Additional accessories are available on the Mavis website.
Remove the Smart Case from the box and connect it to a charger using the USB-C cable. Allow the case to fully charge before first use.
- Glasses in case, both charging together: up to 3 hours. The case charges the glasses first, then itself.
- Glasses already charged, case charging alone: around 2 hours.
- Glasses only (no case): around 1 hour 10 minutes.
- Viaro glasses: approximately 2 hours continuous use, or 6–8 hours with sleep mode.
- Viaro Case: can charge the glasses at least twice.
- Itero glasses and case: approximately twice the battery capacity of the Viaro models.
There is no full power-off. Holding Button F for 5 seconds puts the glasses into deep sleep, which is equivalent to turning them off. When placed back in the case, the glasses sleep automatically.
Press any button to wake the glasses. When you take them out of the case, the case wakes up automatically and begins transmitting LTE. When placed back in the case, both glasses and case sleep on their own.

The Viaro has a sportier look and comes with the smaller Viaro Case. The Itero has a more formal appearance, a larger battery (roughly twice the Viaro's), a 3.5 mm headphone jack, and comes with the larger Itero Case which contains two batteries. Both models have identical features and functionality.
Yes. During the order process on the Mavis Technologies website, you can choose between sun lenses or photochromic lenses, which automatically adjust to light conditions.
Place the glasses in the Smart Case — always fold the right arm first, then the left. The magnetic pogo pins on the underside of the right temple connect automatically to the case's charging contacts. A separate USB charger accessory (available on the Mavis website) can also charge the glasses while you wear them.
The glasses must be folded in the correct order. Always fold the right arm first, then the left, before placing them in the case. If folded the wrong way, the pogo pins won't align with the charging contacts.
- Button 1: wakes up the glasses.
- Button 2 (press twice): sends the case to sleep. Useful when your glasses are on home Wi-Fi but the case is still transmitting LTE — pressing this saves the case's battery.
Only with the Itero model, which has a 3.5 mm headphone jack on the underside of the right arm. The Viaro model does not have this port. Bluetooth headphones are not supported on either model.
The glasses carry an IPX weather resistance rating. They can be worn outdoors in rain but must not be submerged or used in the shower or swimming pool.
The LTE antenna is on the back of the case. Keep the back face of the case facing upward or outward when the glasses are in use for the best signal.
Say "Activate obstacle detection" to the Voice Assistant, or hold Button B for 5 seconds. Hold Button B for 5 seconds again to deactivate. Obstacle detection works completely offline — no internet connection is needed.
Yes. Activate obstacle detection first (hold Button B for 5 seconds), then press Button B once to start scene description. Both will run together. A single press stops scene description; holding 5 seconds stops obstacle detection.
Say "Change obstacle detection range to [1, 2, or 3] metres". Maximum range is 3 metres.
- 1 metre — tight indoor or crowded spaces.
- 2 metres — everyday walking.
- 3 metres — outdoor use for earlier warnings.
Hold Button F for 2 seconds and release when you hear two beeps. The glasses will capture an image and read any text visible to the camera — including signs, documents, labels, and menus. You can also say "Read the text" to the Voice Assistant.
Faces are registered through the Mavis Management Portal. Once enabled, the glasses automatically announce a recognised person's name when they appear in view. You can also ask "Who is in front of me?" using the Voice Assistant.
- Make an audio call: say "Make audio call to [Portal / Support / contact name]".
- Make a video call: say "Make video call to [Portal / Support / contact name]".
- Answer an incoming call: press Button F.
- Reject or end a call: press Button B.
First, connect your Gmail account in the Mavis Portal (Settings → Email). Then:
- To read emails: say "Read latest email".
- To send a new email: say "Send new email" and follow the guided steps.
- To reply: say "Reply to [name]'s email received [date/time]".
No. Navigation requires the Smart Case, as it relies on the case's built-in GPS module. Navigation will not function without the case nearby.
Yes. Say "Set gesture" to the Voice Assistant and the glasses will guide you to perform a specific head movement. Once set, that gesture activates the Voice Assistant in future without pressing any button.
- Press Button F — the glasses enter provisioning mode and broadcast a temporary Wi-Fi network.
- On your phone or laptop, connect to Mavis_Glasses_[serial] using password 123456789.
- A setup portal opens automatically (or open your browser if it doesn't).
- Select your Wi-Fi network, enter its password, give it a name, and set a priority number.
- Save — the glasses will connect and store the network for future use.
A lower number means a higher preference — priority 1 is always preferred over priority 2. The Smart Case is typically priority 2. Set your home Wi-Fi to priority 1 so the glasses use it when you're at home for faster speeds, and fall back to the case when you're out.
