SUMMARY:The Vulcan Sessions - 7: Product Management and Design Essentials
DESCRIPTION:Be product-centric to get success\nIf you search for ‘Product Management’ on Google\, you’ll get at least 20 variations on the job title. The role does differ according to different organisational scenarios. However\, it’s confusing and can be a barrier to people who would make great Product Managers – people with a natural aptitude to manage stakeholders and solve complex problems for (often) demanding customers. \nSpoiler – no one grows up wanting to be a Product Manager….we all get here by accident! \nJoin us for an insightful talk on why Product Management is a vital skill in today’s business landscape. Kiran Patel will explore how effective product management drives innovation\, aligns teams and creates customer-centric solutions that lead to business growth. \nLearn how mastering this skill can enhance decision-making\, foster collaboration and build products that resonate with market demands\, giving companies a competitive edge. Perfect for aspiring product managers\, business leaders and entrepreneurs looking to elevate their product strategy. \nKiran Patel is a Principal Product Manager at technology and data consultancy Transform UK. \nAfter starting off as an Aerospace Engineer\, he has spent the last ten years building and managing a range of products/services in a various industries such as Telco\, Manufacturing\, Automation\, Entertainment\, Media and Public Sector. \nOutside of the day job\, Kiran loves to run\, play and watch football\, collecting old vinyl\, as well as retro video games – all of this while trying to tame an increasingly energetic 15 month year old who has just figured out how to walk! \nNavigating the startup journey in project management\nIn this session\, David Sikharulidze from Mavis Tech will share his experiences in product development as they work on innovative smart glasses designed for visually impaired and blind individuals. \nDavid will illustrate how they transformed a single idea into the creation of almost ten prototypes before finalising their product. This journey\, though intensive in research and development\, taught Mavis Tech invaluable lessons. \nBy learning from their mistakes\, you might save time and resources when developing physical products. David is now on the brink of releasing their smart glasses for visually impaired and blind to the market and are set to begin internal manufacturing. Their insights will be beneficial for any company or startup involved in creating or aspiring to create an electronic product. \nMavis Technologies was established in August 2023\, following the completion of David’s master’s degree at the University of Northampton. Motivated by personal experience as a visually impaired individual\, David recognised the challenges faced by those with visual impairments and sought to create a company dedicated to developing assistive gadgets and smart glasses for the visually impaired and blind community. \nDrawing inspiration from the concept of empowerment and independence\, the idea for Mavis was born\, with a name derived from Magic and Vision\, symbolising their belief in creating solutions that empower individuals with low or no vision. \nGet Tickets Here
